The late Prvt. Dorling, Royal Garrison Artillery was noted locally for his geniality and kind disposition, whilst his keen sense of duty was especially noticed during his military career. When the call for men for the Army came he quickly responded, though his health could not have been robust, for it was only three weeks after enlistment before he was admitted to hospital. After a short period of treatment it was seen that he was suffering from serious complications, viz., pneumonia, septic poisoning and pleurisy, He received every medical and nursing attention but without avail. His death on Friday last came as a great shock to the villagers of Icklingham........
